Inspired by events in the news,  THE FOURTH ESTATE takes you into the lives of four journalists confronting danger and temptation. In Afghanistan, a rookie reporter, teamed with a veteran photographer, struggles with romantic attraction and his need to make a difference. Two Asian American women condemned as spies in North Korea create curious coping devices. . A corporate VP tries to bully an editor into whitewashing environmental pollution. An Irish journalist recognizes the imminent possibility of her murder. Will she fold?

Author Glenda Frank, a drama critic for over 30 years, is learning about life on the other side. This is her third full-length play. She holds a Ph. D. in Theatre from the Graduate Center and is an alumna of the NCI at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center. She teaches theatre and American literature at FIT, SUNY.

Director Rebecca Hengstenberg, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, has been heralded by NY critics as an innovative director, whose actors come alive in their roles. Her 2010 production of “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot” by Stephen Adly Guirgis was called “a crisply paced . . . polished revival, . . . a unique evening of entertainment.”

An Equity Showcase,  THE FOURTH ESTATE features an outstanding cast: Leanne Barrineau, Aleta Davies, Dennis Z. Gagomiros*, Sarah Kay, Jaygee Macapugay*, Colin McFadden,  and David Sedgwick*. Lighting design is by Daniel Winters,  sound by Travor Dallier.  Susanna Miller is the Company Representative.
